There are other wild & stocked trout streams nearby, including Big Stony Creek. The New River has canoeing, kayaking & tubing less than 15 miles West. And there's white-water rafting in West Virginia on the New & the Gauley, about two hours away, and you can bungee-jump off the New River Gorge Bridge in WVA, too. The cottage has spacious bedrooms with hardwood floors, original plaster walls & a kitchen island made from early 1900 2ft wide boards. Both sofas fold out into beds for extra accommodations. It sits near the New River and the Norfolk & Western railway and, as such, the train occasionally passes by, please be aware of the potential for train noise. The cottage is not suitable for large groups or parties. There is a stove with oven, a microwave and toaster, a refrigerator, cookware, plates, cups, glassware and silverware. All bedding and towels are provided. We have Smart TV hook up with a Netflix account just for the house, locally made soap and locally roasted coffee. We provide ear plugs for guests who prefer not to hear the train. The Dunigan Cabin is located along the New River on 4 acres of land. You can walk down to the water, sit and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the river, wade out to fish or go swimming. You can tube down the river from the bridge and stop at the cabin. At night you can sit on the porch swing and watch fire flies or rest by the fire pit and roast marshmallows. There is plenty of outdoor seating. You are more than welcome to bring your tents and camp down by the river or in the large field beside the cabin. There are many trees along the river for a hammock if you have one to put up and enjoy relaxing or reading a book. The road to the cabin is a dirt road great for kids to ride their bikes a short distance where you can see them. We have available many outdoor games such as corn hole, horseshoes, volleyball and badminton. There are sand buckets and shovels for the kids to enjoy along the waters edge. At this time due to the location we don't have internet. Recent Flooding - River Access: Just wanted to share with all potential renters that the river can be accessed. The river bottom land has experienced two very major floods in May and early June which has changed the terrain. The river has washed out the sand and piled in one area and the land is rockier than before with ruts. There is a sloped area to go down and back up prior to accessing the river. Once you walk over to the river you can set up chairs and enjoy sitting by the rivers edge or building a fire. We apologize in advance with any obstacles you encounter accessing the river. Due to the change in the terrain you may find it more difficult to access the river with a canoe or kayak. There are boat ramps close by. One you pass on the way to the cabin under the bridge at Pembroke and the other is downstream of the cabin near Ripplemead bridge. The cabin is located along the New River there are railroad tracks on both sides. The crossing access for the cabin doesn't have the gates that lower. The trains will blow their whistle to alert anyone crossing the tracks. The Cabin is close to many recreational sites in Giles County such as the Cascades, Glen Alton and Appalachian Trail. There are 2 local golf courses in the area. We are about 25 minutes from Virginia Tech campus. There are several restaurants in the area including the Palisades in Eggleston which draws many out of town visitors.

We have 4 bedrooms - one king and 3 queen sized beds. We do not provide long term rentals. A level 2 charging station for electric vehicles is also available. The Robeson House was built by Frank Leigh Robeson, who spent 53 years at Virginia Tech as a student, faculty member, and head of the physics department. As a student from 1901 to 1904, Robeson helped draw plans for many campus buildings and faculty houses. During half a century of employment at Virginia Tech, he taught mathematics, mechanical engineering, and physics and wrote the leading physics textbook of the time. He was a Fellow in the American Academy of Science. The house is truly charming with beautiful woodwork, original pieces of art and furniture from the estate and a gorgeous private back yard!

The Magnolia house has 3 guest rooms, 1 full kitchen and a living room for guests to relax and enjoy. It is the closest to the swimming pool and is located underneath a very large Magnolia Tree, hence the name given to this house. Being a small operation we are able to be detailed keeping you safe and comfortable.

I have to send this amount to the Town of Blacksburg. I have based the property fee based on the average daily rental amount so it might change depending on the amount of your actual daily rental. This is in addition to what VRBO collects and calls lodging taxes which is actually state and local sales taxes on the rental and cleaning fee amount.
